At the heart of “Bend to Break” lies a narrative that mirrors the tempestuous storms of the American South—lush guitars capturing the emotional tumult before breaking into thunderous percussion. Pisgah sings of the poignant devastation and eventual liberation that occurs when one realizes they’ve been living another’s narrative for too long. Her lyrics, like ‘Now there’s nothing here for you/And don’t you know it,’ deliver a gut-punch of authenticity that speaks to personal self-discovery and introspection.

After immersing herself in influences ranging from Ryan Adams to Emma Ruth Rundle, Jenkins has crafted a sound that is distinctly her own. Her time in Greater London since 2015 has evidently contributed a unique layer to her music, blending Southern roots with a transatlantic edge. “‘Bend to Break’ is one of my favourite songs I’ve written so far,” Jenkins confesses. “I didn’t have a lot of examples of healthy, stable relationships around me when I was growing up and you can hear it in this song. This song is partially me putting myself in the shoes of my parents before they divorced, and partially me reflecting on why I needed to put an entire ocean between myself and where I come from.”

Recorded in her home studio and polished by the skilled hands of Austin-based producer Dan Duszynski, known for his work with Jess Williamson and Loma, “Bend to Break” is a collaboration that melds personal history with professional prowess. It’s one of several vivid tapestries in “Faultlines,” an album that promises to delve into the arenas of personal and emotional earthquakes.

Pisgah’s journey, from the towering pine lanes of the American South to the cobblestoned streets of London, finds expression in this compelling single. As the weight of the album reveals itself on December 4, 2025, it’s clear that Jenkins’ metamorphosis into Pisgah is showcasing her evolution as an artist. Her soundscape is an invitation to surrender to her deeply introspective narrative, one rich in storytelling that walks the line between devastation and relief, destructive and redemptive—a fitting prelude to the forthcoming “Faultlines.”

Pisgah’s impassioned storytelling and sound army march onward with “Bend to Break,” leaving a trail of emotional and resounding echoes in their wake.
